【3月17日 AFPBB News】Coming out of the official runway venue, Japanese outerwear brand MEGMIURA WARDROBE presented its new collection at Tokyo's trendy Shibuya district during Rakuten Fashion week Tokyo 2023 A/W.

The JFW DIGITAL GRAND PRIX 2023 S/S winner showcased the collection in a huge basement of a building now under construction at the heart of the bustling shopping and entertainment town.

“Our coats are ageless, genderless, and body positive. And when I thought about which city could fulfill these three things, Shibuya seemed to be the right place,” Meg Miura, designer of the brand, said in an interview after the presentation.

Various types of models wore the label’s cross-genre outerwear including an oversize poncho coat and a long-sleeved blouson.

At the opening of the show, extras acting roles of schoolgirls, office workers, skateboarders and housewives, moved around the stage, helping create a busy urban scene for the presentation.

“We cast a wide variety of models from children to adults and from plus-size to small-size,” she said. “We decided on the cast and staging methods in order to express the sense of our three-dimensional coats in the best way.” (c)AFPBB News
