【3月17日 AFPBB News】Japanese designer Tomotaka Koizumi displayed his signature ruffle dresses at Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO 2023 A/W on March 17, aiming to dispatch a message of his design from Asia’s key fashion center to the world after unveiling his latest collection in Paris and Milan.
“Since I do not usually offer store-bought clothes, it is a great opportunity for me to exhibit on a large scale and have everyone see my work,” the designer of TOMO KOIZUMI said in an interview.
He displayed his new collection of brightly colored organdy ruffle dresses at a venue of the biannual parade in the Japanese capital after showing the clothes in Paris and Milan.
Koizumi, who offers costumes to celebrities such as English music star Sam Smith, said it’s meaningful to present his creations in Tokyo.
“Tokyo is the center of Japanese fashion. There are a lot of highly sensitive people here,” he said. “I believe that I can send a message to the world from Tokyo.”
He also said Tokyo is an important place to get original materials for his creations. “By making good use of them and delivering them to the world, I hope to keep my uniqueness,” he said.
Speaking about future activities, he aims to create his work by mixing fashion with art. (c)AFPBB News
