「記憶に留めておく一枚の報道写真」
トルコからギリシャへ渡ろうとしたその瞬間、彼の人生は終わりを告げた。生前、彼の目には何が写っていただろうか。硬直した身体から何を訴えているのだろうか。きっと家族とともにこれからの生活に希望を見出していたことだろう。写真を見るたびに彼を死に追いやった現状や背景が、何もできない自分の無力さを引き立てるようでなんとも遣る瀬無い悲しい気持ちになる。難民問題が引き起こす死は防げる死、なにより防がなきゃいけない死であると私は思っている。彼らは難民になるために、迫害され苦しい思いをするために生まれてきたわけではないからだ。冷たい海の中をさまよいながら、私たちにさまざまな思いを抱かせてくれたこの少年に敬意と哀悼を。難民が根絶するような社会を、どうにか作り上げたい。
